Revolutionary Spuds

As part of Idaho’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth has launched a creative and patriotic initiative known as the Revolutionary Spuds. These handcrafted potato characters give a lighthearted Idaho twist to our nation's founding heroes, featuring pun-filled names like Spud Revere, Alexander Hamiltater, Spudjamin Franklin, and Abby Tot Adams.

The project is designed to engage Idahoans — especially families and young people — in honoring our nation’s founding while celebrating the state’s most iconic crop. Since their debut at the Idaho Capitol in April 2025, the Spuds have traveled to parades, civic events, and celebrations across the state, sparking smiles and encouraging civic pride.

More Spuds are on the way throughout the year, culminating in a full display in 2026 as part of Idaho’s contribution to the national America250 observance.

The Bingham County Republican Central Committee proudly supports efforts like this that connect patriotism with creativity and community. Keep an eye out for the Revolutionary Spuds at local events — and come take a selfie with your favorite Founding Tuber!

Become an Ambassador

Become an America250 Ambassador

Help Idaho celebrate America’s 250th birthday by becoming an Ambassador or Junior Ambassador! This is a fun and meaningful way to share patriotic spirit, honor our country’s founding, and bring your community together.

Anyone can be an Ambassador — individuals, families, businesses, local leaders, and community groups are all welcome to participate.

Junior Ambassadors are typically youth ages 5–18 who want to spread the word about America250 and get involved in family-friendly events, parades, and community celebrations.

Whether you're organizing local activities or simply telling friends and family about this historic milestone, there's a place for you in Idaho’s America250 celebration.
